# delete pronunciation dictionary

> Archives a pronunciation dictionary. It disappears from the API and Lab, and sessions can no longer select it. Archiving is permanent: there is no way to unarchive a dictionary. Its entries and history are kept until your organization is deleted.

A dictionary that a persona uses can't be archived: the response is 409 `DICTIONARY_ATTACHED` with the persona IDs. Remove the dictionary from those personas in Lab first.
